J. Herbin Amethyste de l'Oural 1798 Anniversary Fountain Pen Ink (50ml Bottle)

This 50ml glass bottle of J. Herbin Amethyst de l'Oural (Amethyst of the Ural Mountains) Anniversary fountain pen ink comes in a gorgeous bottle with a wax seal, worthy of this unique ink. This rich, deep purple ink has silver pigment particles suspended in it, achieving the sheen that is raved about by so many users. J. Herbin does include a fairly strict warning on the box, letting users know to clean out this highly saturated ink from your pen on a regular basis, but the ink is safe for fountain pens. The silver particles settle out of suspension fairly quickly, and these particles can be seen on the bottom of the bottle. The ink, and your pen, should be gently agitated before and occasionally during use.

Amethyst de l'Oural is inspired by the gemstone trade of the 16th and 17th centuries. Amethyst stones from Russia, Brazil and the island of Sri Lanka were eagerly sought after for the calming, meditative and lucid dream-like qualities.

Though similar to 1670 inks in depth and viscosity, the opening of the bottle is much wider, the wax top thicker, and the Jacques Herbin logo is engraved on the bottom of the bottle.

Amethyst de l'Oural is a complex ink with the deep purple and silver sparkles. Love the combination!

Shimmer aside the base color is gorgeous September 11, 2017

So I love purple inks and had to try this out. The base purple dark, saturated with a little shading. The shimmer is uniform and subtle across the color. More subtle than J.Herbin's other shimmer inks.

The bottle has a larger opening so it's easier to fill compared to the 1670 inks that have narrow openings.

Definitely worth buying.
