J. Herbin Cafe des Iles Fountain Pen Ink (30ml Bottle)

This 30ml glass bottle of J. Herbin Cafe des Iles fountain pen ink is elegantly labeled and the bottle has an integrated pen rest. From the beginning, J. Herbin distinguished itself from its competitors by offering a wide range of colors for the fountain pen inks. The names chosen for each color are very poetic to preserve the originality of the brand and as a French tradition. Cafe des iles (Island coffee): a light brown color reminder of the great coffee smell enjoyed at the terrace of a cafe in a far away island.

J. Herbin is the oldest name in pen inks in the world. M. Herbin created 'The Jewel of Inks' in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700. Herbin uses all natural dyes in their fountain pen inks, which is reflected in the very neutral pH of the inks. The inks are created to be lightfast, non-toxic, and smooth flowing in your fountain pen.

Good, but a Little Hard to Clean May 5, 2015
Reviewer: John Blackburn from Columbus, OH United States
The color is similar to Omas Sepia, but just a little darker.  It shades well.  But there are two trade-offs, which are not turn-offs here: (1) the ink took a little longer to clean out of a Noodler's ebonite Konrad, and (2) there were tiny bits of brown in the bottom of the waste water after the flush, which may be due to the natural products used by J. Herbin.  To this buyer, this is not a big deal (it's an old company!), but to some who don't have the patience, and may be a little paranoid about their pens, this may be a deal-breaker.

Love this ink!  Service was fast and problem free, and I look forward to purchasing more colors from Anderson Pens.
